There’s a long list of improvements in Distant Worlds 2 which you can read in this developer post here. If they manage to do all of this and release a relatively polished game, Distant Worlds 2 is looking like an awesome game I can sink my entire dreadful 2021 into. Will update this post once I know the actual release date.

From the livestream (found here), there will be a beta test in 2020, and they're currently targeting a 2020 release. Eric has said he'll post the screenshots and VOD of the stream in the forums later today.
